Wednesday, 27 June 2018
Traffic and Highway Patrol officers have issued a number of defects following a truck safety operation in Sydney’s Northwest yesterday.
Operation Broadsword was conducted in Hornsby on Tuesday (26 June 2018) to inspect and detect heavy vehicles offences and enforce compliance to reduce road trauma.
Officers from Traffic and Highway Patrol Command along with inspectors from the Roads and Maritime Services inspected 66 units and issued 17 minor defects for fuel leaks, seal leaks and brakes.
A check on the licence of an Irish national revealed he had a large number of demerit points on his licence and police will submit documentation to challenge his fitness to drive.
Another driver was drug tested and allegedly returned a positive result for cannabis. Charges are pending a lab analysis of the result.
