Police investigate truck crash – Dubbo

Police are investigating the circumsatnces surrounding a truck crash near Dubbo earlier today.

Shortly before Midday today (Wednesday 11 July 2018), an empty B-Double heavy vehicle was travelling north on the Newell Highway about 25 klms south of Dubbo.

The truck left the highway crossing the southbound lanes, travelled through scrub on the side of the road and struck a tree.

The truck was extensively damaged in the crash and as a result of suffering injuries from the impact the driver was unable to get out of the vehicle.

A member of the public assisted the driver until the arrival of emergency services.

The driver was released from the cab and treated at the scene before being airlifted to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.

Officers from Orana Mid Western Police District attended the location and commenced inquiries into the cause of the crash.

Police have urged anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward and contact local police or Crime Stoppers.
