A young woman has died after her hatchback was hit from behind by a truck on the Great Western Highway.
The 24-year-old woman was driving her Suzuki Swift eastbound along the highway when she stopped at the intersection with Flushcombe Road at Blacktown about 7.25pm (Monday 13 August 2018).
A tipper truck being driven by a 35-year-old man, and transporting an excavator, hit the back of the hatchback, pushing it onto the median strip.
The woman sustained critical head injuries and was taken to Westmead Hospital, where she died yesterday (Wednesday 15 August 2018).
The truck driver has undergone mandatory testing while the truck has been seized for mechanical examination.
Inquiries are continuing by officers attached to the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.
